Convenor Winihin Jemide opens the first Women in Government and Politics Conference for Africa, held at Central Hall in Westminster, London. The conference, which will result in a manifesto, encourages women to participate in all aspects of politics and governance in Africa, and was attended by guest speakers including Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke, Minister of Petroleum for Nigeria, collaborator Dr Nic Cheesman (director of the African Studies Centre, Oxford University) and delegates from across Africa.
