Event: How to strengthen legislatures in new democracies

The Westminster Foundation for Democracy is hosting an exciting new event as part of their  project on the political economy of democracy promotion on 17 March 2016.

Academics, policy makers and practitioners seeking to increase the impact of parliamentary strengthening programmes and democracy assistance programmes more broadly need research that helps them to understand the factors that promote and retard legislative development in new democracies. A new project on the political economy of democracy promotion – a collaboration between the University of Oxford and the Westminster Foundation for Democracy – aims to address this gap. Dr. Nic Cheeseman, University of Oxford, will chair a panel of experts who will discuss a new policy report on the most effective ways to strengthen legislatures in new democracies.

17 March 2016, 14:00 to 17:00, Canada House, London

Canada House, Trafalgar Square, London.

Please note: To comply with security protocols, participants must RSVP to CanadaTrafalgarSquare@international.gc.ca prior to attending.
